Can he diagnose me

Dr Garvey has 15 years’ experience in diagnosing groin problems, and he has operated on hundreds of chronic groin pain patients including elite athletes such as players of Rugby, AFL, soccer, basketball, cricketers, long distance runners, etc.

Dr Garvey has treated many male and female patients with these problems.

Ultrasound can be of great assistance in diagnosis, especially when performed by a Specialist Radiologist who specialises in these types of injuries.

What are my options (see Groin Injuries)

Physiotherapy : 20% of patients with groin injury will get better with physiotherapy alone. However, this could take over 12 months to work. It can be a useful option for those who definitely don’t want to have surgery and have plenty of time to work on their treatment.

Surgery : 90% of those operated upon will get back to their pre-injury level of activity. (See Surgical techniques and Success Rates of Surgery).

Rehabilitation : Rehabilitation with a Specialist groin Physiotherapist will be needed for all patients after surgery. (See Post-operative rehabilitation).
